This song started out as an instrumental demo Niveous sent Brookes and said, "I'm calling it "Cowboys" for some reason." Brookes took the title as a prompt and wrote the lyrics from the perspective of a young, lonely cowboy writing home from the range. Then she invented an elaborate scifi setting in which the narrator is actually on another planet some light-years away and the message is being transmitted via a hologram which keeps glitching, hence the stops.
